For some reason that game reminds me of the 2 films, "1408" and "Mothman prophecies".

Funny you should mention that, I reaaly believe it's verrry similar to "the secret window" (I think it's called that) which also focuses around a writer and also the location it's set in looks just like brightwood!!!
