Only thing the PSP has over the DS is a slightly less crappy online. Funny though considering how games like LBP PSP and Grand Turismo PSP and others DON'T EVEN GET ONLINE! LOL!

Except that perspective cannot be applied because the entire context is different.

The ds and psp are different kinds of gaming systems to ps3 & 360.

Firstly, A,AA and AAA can't really be applied to the argument because these are handhelds and ds gets top marks because it takes the easy route and provides just billions of side-scrollers. The ds is not ambitious as such. I mean, the psp has a game like gta Vice City Stoires. Because it closely resembles the ps2 game, they expect it to meet its standards in every area. So if it has glitches, it gets marked down in score. If it has a rather bad framerate, it gets marked down in score and basically, it gets compared to a ps2 equivalent instead of being marked as a handheld game.
I mean, you can't tell me that this:
(92 on Metacritic)
is better than this:
(86 on metacritic)

And you can't say that shooters are the console equivalent of side scrollers because shooters is a vast category. You can have fps's, tps's, isometric fps's and just loads of variety! Sidescroller gameplay is virtually always the same. Also, side scrollers are linear, have no immersion, have limited gameplay elements naturally as you can pretty much stay only on a flat world and not explore anywhere else. Same goes with top down and 2d games, you can't immerse yourself fully into the experience. Psp has way less side scrollers and more of other genres. The majority of which being 3D and also a lot of sandbox games.

Ds has more games. Yes.

Why would i play a handheld Gears of War when i can play Gears of War itself? Or a handheld GTA rather than GTA on consoles itself?

That's the problem with PSP, it tries to make it's games match the console games, but it's graphics aren't even at a PS2 level, and it only has one analog stick. DS developers however don't go for the graphics, they go for the pure fun factor.

And the so called "side scrollers" may be abundant, but they are not the top tier games on the DS. The best DS games are RPGs like Crono Trigger, The World Ends with you, Shin Megami Tensei, Strategy games like Advance Wars (the level of strategy in that game is outrageously massive), Dungeon Crawlers like Dark Spire, and innovative games like Ace Attorney and Trauma Center.

And though some make fun of them, the DS still has it's classic franchises, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and Pokemon. It's so funny how people make fun of them, yet they have MASSIVE fanbases like Halo does. And companies like Atlus and Square-Enix are making a lot of games on the DS and they are really good developers.

Does the PSP even have dedicated Franchises on it?
