I got free microsoft points and 3 gold months from microsoft?

I got a message from "LIVE" (Microsoft's automatic account or something) and It said I was some sort of "valued member", it came with a code for 400MS and 3 gold months added to my subscription. I have no idea what this means, can someone explain it to me?

Well apparently if you have played any original XBOX title recently on Live you get this.

you also get if u recently played halo 2 a halo reach beta so u no i would save u money on odst ( which is epic ) so u can buy xbox live or use the 3months for the beta

Might as well boot up halo 2 again.

Just fired up Halo 2 today, hopefully MS will give me some free stuff.

Haha I got this too just because I was playing the first Splinter Cell from Xbox v1. Haha now I won't have to buy live for 3 more months.
