Project Natal is "Kinect"

While there has been plenty of speculation as to what the official name of Project Natal will be, all of those questions were supposed to end on Sunday night at a Microsoft event.

Now it looks like the official name has been posted by USA Today and the motion device is officially called Kinect. There were also a number of games announced including:

Kinectimals
You can play with virtual animals. Lol cat Kinect!

Joyride
A racing game where players steer with their hands.

Kinect Sports
Boxing, bowling, beach vollyball, track and field, soccer and table tennis.

Kinect Adventures
River rafting with friends.

Dance Central
A dancing version of So You Think You Can Dance.

Star Wars and Disney Games

So far today we've seen posts on NeoGaf pointing towards the name "kinetic" based on an old patent filing. There has also been a post pointing to an Xbox 360 redesign, though we have no indication of its credibility.

But DS doesn't have a camera. If we were going by your logic, Nitendogs would be ripping off Tamagochi... wait.

Probably not. But the concept was first introduced in Nintendogs (video game wise).

Nintendogs doesn't even use the camera kendo, you just use the stylus. Eyepet uses your body(and PS move controller if you have one), paper where you can draw something and give it to your eyepet, and a pet car which you use as a scanner. BTW I know this because I have both games lol.
