pay to play? Yeah I guess you don't pay to play but to get everything the service has to offer, yes you have to pay.

Thing is, if you pay to play online for 360 you also get access loads of content & downloads. With ps3 even if you do pay you don't get as much and so if I don't state "Pay for online" then this would be horribly unbalanced.

BC is not on the latest version of the PS3, only on 1 or 2 models. And 250 is the max for PS3, you can upgrade past that but it does not have a 1TB sku

The BC on PS3 is a pain in the ass, I'll admit. I really miss upscaling SOTC on my old 60GB.

It's unfair to say though that you must pay for PSN+ to get all that PSN offers. All it is is free stuff and discounts.
I guess I'm a PSN- subscriber, but I still get everything the service has to offer. I can buy those crappy, animated themes if I so wish.

Gold is a necessity to get all that Live has to offer. Facebook, MP and all that jazz

Only thing I take issue with here is the no overheating. The new 360 DOES overheat. Alot. Hence why they tried to gloss this over by having the system automatically shut off if it does. Rather than actually fix the problem, they covered it with duct tape.

There have been test showing that the X360 slim overheats even less than the PS3 slim. Makes sense though TBH, the new X360 uses a combined 45 nm chip while the older models used seperate 90 nm chips for both the GPU and CPU. This by itself should have made it twice as reliable without factoring in the new big-ass fan and larger vents.

If I remember correctly, PS+ is a voluntary fee, so technically Sony should get a no under "paying for online.

ign has done a PS3 vs 360 hardware comparison and it PS3 won by 7 out of 10. You have just made a biased list.

The PS3 has more 1080p games, but most of them are crap except maybe GT5 which isn't even true 1080p (1280 X 1080). And even then the PS3 has way more Sub-HD games than the X360. Besides, he DID put that the X360 didn't have Blu-ray playback capabilities, so what's the problem?

I know that the streaming is native 1080p, but I'm pretty sure everything else is upscaled. I'm not sure, so you may be right on that.

You gave ONE feature that PSN does not have that you're paying for. Frankly, I (along with most people, I'm presuming) only use the online gaming and XGC features. While PSN doesn't have XGC, it does have online gaming with generally better servers. Yeah, XBL Gold members get a "Deal of the Week", but that's a deal for one game, and the deal expires after the week ends. PS+ users have the deals last much longer, and we still get our basic online features for free.

There are also many UI advantages over the PS3's "Ingame XMB". XBL's friendslist are more organized and the Rep system is alot more elaborate. There are also things like Voice Messaging, Cross Game Invites integration to the UI, Ingame Music for all games (not really a direct Live feature, but I guess it's still noteable right?)...

It also provides services such as Last FM radio (I've used it, it's really cool actually), and ESPN coming out later this year (?)

Deal of the Weeks and Gold Exclusives vary between games, add-ons, arcade games, and even XBL subscriptions.

As for the online server thing, that's just bullshit. I've had much more problems playing multiplayer games on PSN then on XBL...Only game on XBL that lags for me is Gears of War 2 and even then it's more of an issue with the game's netcode rather than XBL's connection to the server. Who ever started that rumor saying "PSN provides dedicated servers"....Yea that's bullshit too.. PUBLISHERS provide dedicated servers to games. Sony provides dedicated servers for some of their multiplayer titles (MAG, Resistance, Killzone..) But that doesn't mean Xbox Live has no games with dedicated servers. Forza 3 used dedicated, most EA games use dedicated (BFBC2, Medal of Honor), Valve games (L4D) uses dedicated servers. And so on. Even then though, I'd say roughly 90ish% of all multiplayer titles on both PSN and XBL run off of P2P servers which depend off of the host's connection.

Whatever, I didn't actually mean "system hardware" I meant how the systems compare overall but not in terms of games library. Features one has and the other hasn't.
