When do you think Next gen will begin?

It's definitely not too far away so predict.

I predict that Nintendo's next console will come out in 2012. But if you want to get technical about it, it starts when the 3DS comes out. I have a feeling that Sony and Microsoft will release their next console in 2014. Probably in November.

I think we still got over 5 years till the next gen starts for Sony and MS, but Nintendo will probably release one sooner.

3DS: 2011
P2P(aka PSP2): late 2011/early 2012
PS4: 2013
XB3: 2012
New Nintendo system: 2013

Sony said that they have a 10 year plan for PS3 so PS4 isn't gonna happen anytime soon.
And with the launch of Kinect, 360 will see higher sales and Microsoft probably isn't gonna get out the next xbox anytime soon either.

By 10 years they mean support it for 10 years. Which they did with the PS1 and PS2. The PS1 was supported until 2006(12 years after launch), and PS2 is still supported(going on 11 years after launch). That doesn't mean that the PS3 will be their primary system for 10 years.

5 years is definitely not happening,it will be sooner than that. Also Nintendo wont shoot first,in fact they will hope it can last as long as possible since they have nothing to lose and are winning.

So they would use that momentum to get into first next gen, and get a jump on the competition.

i don't think Nintendo needs a headstart,i think they found out how to stay on top again like before. also the more this gen last for tem the more sales and money they make.

MS will release a console before sony or at the same time. Sony cant put one out around now or even next year because of the money lost and they need to recoup the loss. MS can release next fall if they want and squeeze/hurt sony since sony cant really afford to do it just yet. ps4 will probably be the same price,definitely not cheaper,MS will not allow that. Also sony lost a lot of mindshare and market this gen,MS will probably do similar stragedeis that happened this gen like timed dlc and games that are 3rd party being timed. Basically what happened with N64 to GC.

I hope we don't see the next generation of consoles for at least five years. Ever since the original Xbox was released it seemed like they were coming out so fast. 2014-2016 would be my preferred years with Nintendo releasing the uber Wii followed by Sony's console and then followed by Microsoft's.

Hopefully then we will have some fresh IPs.

Sony is a multi billon dollar company.

They don't need to recoup money, sure they lost a lot, but that doesn't mean that don't have 10x what it takes to put out a new console successfully.


I predict teasers get shown at E3 2011, details around E3 2012, the a release date of spring 2013.
