Video Games And Homosexuality

It's amazing how much society has changed in just over a decade. Bit by bit, society seems to slowly be evolving and over time becoming more accepting of homosexuality and this has become evident in not only films (Brokeback Mountain, Bruno, I Love You Phillip Morris) but also games.

Think back to the 90's/early 2000's. Games gave you next-to-no choice of your in-game character's sexuality. And to be honest, no one really complained.
Tbh, no matter what happens in-game, I still think Mario is gay really.
It was just the norm for the in-game character to be attracted to or be in a relationship with a female. In fact, you would rarely even see a game that had a gay character in it whatsoever!


But over time there were games like The Sims that gave you the freedom to let your sim "interact" with other sims of the same sex.

And then there were games like Bully, set in a school and you could kiss any girl. And you could even kiss guys but there is only one or two males in the game who are in that way inclined....

Even though that character is gay, he will only accept your kisses from time to time.

So at that point, homosexuality was still not very common in video games. But now, in modern day, you get games like Dragon Age: Origins, in which you can go to a brothel and request to "see" the men or women. (then you'll get a very cheesy cutscene of them on the bed in their underwear, seducing you.)

And then there are games like Fable which allow you to flirt with anyone you like and also get them into bed. In fact, you can even marry this person, male or female!

Sleeping helps your wounds? What about all the stuff about anal sex being bad for your health?!

Back to my original point, Society is changing and video games are following suit.

So yeah, just an observation. I know it's a weird topic....unlike my usual ones but still, I thought it would be an interesting one that's not really been done before

lol i played enchanted arms makoto was a gay fag but then later on when he had the black jacket he was kinda cool but then went back to being gay
