Having problems getting online to play Modern Warfare 2, PlayStation 3 owners? You're not the only one. The game is experiencing connectivity issues, but they're not related to the software patch issued earlier today, says Infinity Ward.

Robert Bowling, the developer's creative strategist, says that server capacity is to blame, not the recent patch that shipped to address PS3 trophy and matchmaking bugs.

"It's a server overload not a bug in the code," Bowling wrote on his Twitter account, saying that a patch won't fix immediate multiplayer problems. "They're working to have servers back up ASAP." And by they, Bowling is referring to the third-party providers that host PlayStation 3 multiplayer traffic.

"Xbox Live servers are maintained and ran by Microsoft," Bowling explains. "PSN servers are ran and maintained by 3rd party companies hired to do so." He says that Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer "will be available as soon as Demonware gets the servers back online ASAP."

In the meantime, keep us up to date on your experience with the online portions of the game.

Sucks to be them. Well at least they're not getting the dissapointment of lagging to death. Better this way i say...

that is why i got it on 360 instead,ps3 online is trash in every way. you would think they would do something about it after 3 years of sucking....

You should see the MW2 headset they made for PS3 owners, reviews have been horrible.

lol that is proof Infinity Ward did not care about the ps3 version since no other game had a trophy glitch. ps3 is total garbage,a patch and update is needed every dam time for a new game i swear lmao.!

I forgot about the trophy problem. Some brownies said theyre going to have to do their campaign all over again to get their trophies now. lol

they've patched it up i like playing modern warfare 2 on both systems although 360 does have more lag and has party mode disabled im sure PSN bound to get another problem

I had a feeling this was going to happen. GTAIV was broken for almost a week before they finally fixed it. Modern Warfare 2 probably had twice as many people trying to get online so it figures the servers wouldn't be able to handle that many people.

I havent had any lag at all on the 360 version. Obvious troll is obvious.

Which is why XBL is worth the price.....XBL is all ran by MS, which is why the charge $50 a yr.

Yea,also calling all cars got the servers shut down. With XBL you will never have to worry about any game getting shut down since it's all a unified service. Any xbox live enabled game even back in 2002 when xbl launched can still be played till this day. That is the beauty of xbl,all in 1 service and everything is connected in 1 server and maintained.
