The Halo series definitely has the best soundtracks. Marty O'Donnell captures the feel of the universe so well and the developers placed the music in the best possible places throughout all the games.

either metroid or the banjo kazooie series. if im correct was that series on of the first to make the sound of the music change with the enviroment (like change in sound between water and land)

Halo and a bit of gears.
Halo soundtrack is my fav.
But there ONE gears song that is my all time favorite.

Love the Lunar soundtrack, as well as Valkyria Chronicles soundtrack.

Civilazation series by far has extremely good music.

Obviously MGS 2. Its unfortunate Kojima was accused of plagiarism and had to remove it from future MGS games.
