Personally, I would recommend you listen to the band 'I' first, it's the same guitarist and vocalist from Immortal it's his side project but it's less Black Metal more of a classic metal sounding band. WOWZA! ok I like the riffs & guitar work but the vocals...yeah, kinda put me off but on the song Shadowed Realms...wow, it's awesome! I love that kind of melodic but at the same time kinda heavyish style. Example: Children Of Bodom. I love songs like BAnned from Heaven because I'm not really a fan of screaming but I love the way it fits in with the melodic riffs and stuff.

And I've been listening to Hollywood Undead recently..they seem alright.
As for the Offspring, I like the album splinter but that's all lol.

Noo way. THeir old stuff (Waking The Fallen) is metalcore.
They don't do the whole screaming thing anymore, now it's just metal but ...diverse metal lol.

I've never heard of Immortal. I should listen to some songs. Would you recommend any?

Sons of Northern Darkness is by far the best Immortal album. It's actually my favorite black metal album to date.

kalmah-swamp song- am amazing melodic death metal release.
the faceless-planetary duality. very odd release this one. lots of experimentation.
antestor-the forsaken-the BEST melodic black metal release i have ever heard,next to nexus polaris by covenant.
the kovenant(covenant)-nexus polaris. 2nd best melodic black metal album i have ever heard. has a chilren of bodom feel to a few songs . this was the last album as covenant before they had to change there name.

That covenant album is absolutely amazing!! I was actually just getting the art for itunes and on the first page on google was this xbox republic page XD
