What is an hardcore game?

I seem to wonder this question a lot i was auguring with my friend killzone vs halo and he said k2 was better because it's more hardcore

I ask him y and he says because it's darker and has more blood, does that make a game more hardcore?

Also i be read comments on wii fans saying mario and wii sports is hardcore games, because its hard and challenging

So what does hardcore mean to you

It used to be that a hardcore gamers was someone who played a lot of games, could beat the hardest, and knew everything there was to know about gaming.

Now it seems a Hardcore gamer is someone who plays Hardcore games. If you ask a Xbox 360 or PS3 hardcore gamer what a hardcore game is they'll tell you Halo, Killzone 2, Gears of War, etc. If you ask a hardcore Nintendo gamer they'll say Zelda, Mario, Metroid.

So it seems to me that hardcore games are the games that hardcore gamers like to play. Hardcore gamers seem to be gamers who hate casual gamers.

Anything that isn't casual

Halo has both points, KZ2 isnt MLG

A hardcore gamer could be someone that plays games that require a lot of skill or it could be a person that dedicates a shit ton of hours into gaming.

Is a person that plays World of Warcraft 1 hour a week a hardcore gamer?

I'm totally with you. Hardcore gamers back then were the ones that played stuff like Battletoads, Ninja Gaiden, Contra, Castlevania, etc. Nowadays, "hardcore" gamers are mature gamers play games like Halo, Call of Duty, Killzone 2, and etc.

I think hardcore gamers and hardcore games are two different things.

HARDCORE GAMERS
are gamers who play about any game there is but try to complete it on the hardest difficulty and play games really often like a life's necessity.

HARDCORE GAMES
I think they're the more, perhaps challenging, but mainly intense and violent games.

So yeah, kz2 is more hardcore than Halo but not games like Gears.
