Mate, none of this is confirmed yet. Anyway, if everything there is true, the intention of this feature isn't to replace the Hard Drive, its to replace the memory card.

People may like to be entitled to all of their 250gb HDD. Anyways doesn't really matter for me because I got that mw2 special bundle.. just saying..

I agree, if MS is going to let us use external storage then they should let use use unlimited storage.

Yeah, cause apparently from those pics of the slim, they got rid of the memory card slots so the logical conclusion is that they would do USB storage.

Yeah, cause apparently from those pics of the slim, they got rid of the memory card slots so the logical conclusion is that they would do USB storage. Seems very likely. And because the ps3 is starting to catch up to the 360 in terms of sales, this might be the thing have MS has up their sleeves (oh and a little thing called natal). I'll probably still buy a slim because I'm that impulsive

16GBs of USB storage, not HDD storage, that is separate.

They didnt get rid of it, if you check close you will see that its 2 memory slots on top of eachother. I think DDD posted a video that explained it.

I'll probably still buy a slim because I'm that impulsive PS3 had a grest year last year. But PS3 fanboys seem to think that just because a console has a good year,it will dominate the rest. Another HUGE factor why PS3 sold alot last year was because of the Slim. The slim sells very well when it is released. But the thing is,Sony only does 1 slim per generation. PS3 wont catch up.Even 360 outsold PS3 is most months last year

| ths is meant for ARCADE owners who dont want to buy the $100+ hard drive accessory.
maybe this will shut up the ps3 fanboys who say arcade owners cant get storage on the cheap.

| i think this will replace the memory cards slots on the xbox360 slim when that comes out so instead of a 500mb memory card u can now use a 16gb usb i say its a win | |

| From everything I've read on the matter it seems the Arcade (the entry SKU) will have no internal HDD and no memory card slots.
The Elite (or the higher up SKU) will have an internal HDD and no memory card slots.
The 360 (if rumor serves true) will allow 2 x 16GB HDD's (and/or USB pen drives), what this in essence will do is assist current Arcade owners as well as the new Arcade (entry level SKU) as well.
There's also speculation we may move into the realm of mandatory installs on the 360 to appease developers such as R* who have complained about storage issues with future games such as GTA V and so on.
I read a few articles on developers saying with such an ability we could see some huge improvements to games on the 360, which imo would fall in line with keeping the console on the market at a great competing level with the PS3 until 2013. Whilst I admit I did not grasp how the improvements will come about exactly, it had a lot to do with storing (in the HDD) more data so the console could load each (next) scene progressively which would not only allow smoother game play but better visuals at the same time.
MS would be addressing and killing many birds all with the same stone this way...

If that is the case they should atleast make it possible to insert a harddrive to the new Arcade. And on the new motherboards is Memorycard slots, just like the old MB.

It'll be interesting to see if they go "upgrade" HDD route (similar to Sony with the PS3) or if they release the new Arcade without any ability to add a HDD at all.
