Alan Wake....

Alan wake is lyke the 360 version of heavy rain.... its a good game but it doesnt appeal to most people amirite?

That is the most idiotic thing I have heard in a while. Alan wake is nothing like Heavy Rain and I would say that the majority of people on this forum cannot wait to get there hands on it.

Well people do that comparison cuz they are both games that they're main focus is a strong storyline and character development, however gameplay wise they are totally different.
One is arount 100% QTE and the other is a 80% 3rd person shooter.

But even if Alan Wake does not "appeal" to most people i believe M$ gonna promote it alot, like the live action trailers and stuff. So it might actually sell very well (it needs to sell very well)

Alan Wake has a AA score on Metacritic.

Sadly.. I was expecting that game to be AAA. Nonetheless, first day buy for myself. And comparing Alan Wake to Heavy Rain is just stupid..

And it may just reach AAA by the time all the ratings are in.
If not, nevermind. We already have more AAA games than ps3, we'll just have a much better AA library too

Alan Wake is a psychological horror game / 3rd person shooter.

Heavy Rain is more like an interactive movie with button prompts.

Let me tell you why your wrong, with all due respect.

1. Alan Wake appeals to people who like Silent Hill, X-Files, Stephen King, Twin Peaks, or the psychological genre in general. That's a lot of people in case you didn't know.

2. Heavy Rain is less a game than a movie and Alan Wake is a hardcore game meant to "feel" like a TV show. So they aren't anything alike.

3. Ask any American who's played Heavy Rain and they'll tell you that the European developers completely failed. The dialog, locations, everything look and sound like they were made by people who have never even been to America, and they probably haven't. Alan Wake on the other hand takes place in a town in the Pacific North West and was modeled after a town in Oregon and they went there and did the research they needed. And it shows, it feels like a real town with real people. that's why it's scary, becuase it feels real and surreal at the same time.

So while Alan Wake may not sell as well as Halo, it is a new IP after all, it appeals to a lot more people than Heavy Rain. However, unlike Heavy Rain which Sony hyped to extreme and PS3 fanboys bought it just to say they did, Alan Wake has to convince Xbox fans that they should pick up yet another great game. It's hard to make waves in an ocean full of waves.

The fuck it did flop, i need to play for myself to see if lived up to my expectations or not. Reviwers have they're opinions and i have mine!

Maybe you didn't appreciate the story as did myself and many other people. You were just so deluded by the QTE's that you automatically thought the game was bad. Maybe QTE's are not your thing, maybe it is. To each his own.

looks like only halo reach and mass effect 2 are going to be the AAA's the 360 will have this year,but ps3 only had gow3 so thats a win for us in the AAA games..and how do you if it flopped? i didnt anticipated it as people did but i know its going to be a great game and i have to play the game to make my own judgement of it..but seriously i hate to say this but red dead redemption is gonna be better >_>

you see thats a prefrence of genre and it only just starting to see reviews in the coming month we could see it take AAA status

QTE are what lazy developers use

QTE's or not, the story was amazing and pulled you in. The game was asking for about 5 playthroughs for the different endings. And if the game is so ''boring'' I don't see how it received an 87. Again, to each his own.

I got Heavy Rain today and I think it's pretty badass, it's not boring, buggy though. Had some sound issues already. Really kills the atmosphere and mood the game creates when the sound stops for a few seconds every 10 seconds lol.

Ughh,some of the dialogue in Heavy Rain is just horrible

Agreed. The sound is buggy but I learned to look past it.
