300,000 PLAYERS ONLINE 360 GAME

Microsoft is trying to make history with a new 360 title, it seems - by developing a system that allows for 300,000 players simultaneously. (Take that, Mag!)

Well, even if it never comes out we still have many mmos announced for Xbox 360:

Age Of Conan: Hyborian Adventures
Huxley: The Dystopia
The Secret World
APB
Champions Online
X-Quest
Islands Of Wakfu
Dragonica Online
Crimecraft

and several others
(some of these may be cancelled but so far no one really knows)

I hope we eventually see a 256 Player Halo game:) I am not the biggest MMO fan, but 300,000 players would be madness!!!

300,000 players for a CONSOLE would be HORRENDOUS. I think if you split them up into different servers that hold around 5000 each would be a much better option.

lol everyone thinks it will be unplayable...but that's the whole point! They're attempting the apparently impossible.
Let's just wait and see how well they manage because the fact that they've set their target as such a high number must mean that they know something we don't....

this is old news, i knew about this months ago, im surprice that a few people know about this, i wonder what kind of game its gona be tho, or how they gona set up that massive number of player at once.

This is old news, but it's still an interesting topic of discussion.

It's a high number to shoot for, but even if they only make a quarter of that it would still be a massive amount of players at once.

halo reach with 300,000 players.... just think of how much the brownies would complain....

Yes but you don't get it, the fact that they are specifically working on 300,000 players.... doesn't that sound unusual? Surely they think 360 can handle a lot of players in a game so even if it's not 300,000 but only a couple of 1000 that would be great and I'm sure it can handle quite a few thousand otherwise why would they set the target so high?

I owned a few Sony fan girls over PSN. They were talking about MAG and how XBL can't support 265 players in a game.

I brought up 1v100. If i'm not mistaken I believe 1v100 had and will have over 100,000 players when it's finally launched.

They brought up their dedicated servers and laughed at XBL's p2p. I laughed at them because their dedicated servers still lags more than XBL's P2P.

You're right about the p2p/dedicated server thing. I don't know how or why that is the case but it seems to be...

1 vs 100 isn't really comparable to a full on 256 player fps though.
Maybe when this comes out, we'll see something that could stand up to MAG.

I don't go by what others say, I go by experience.

I've been on XBL since Halo 2 days and I honestly haven't lagged on XBL as much as I do on PSN. I play alot of Call of Duty and PS3 exclusives such as Uncharted, Warhawk, and I recently just rebought Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Guess what? They all lag twice as much as Halo 3. Well Not Uncharted but the other two does.

My friend who just bought a PS3 (because of the price drop) even noticed that PSN is garbage.
