Americas Preorders Chart, 21 August 2010 - Halo Reach at the Top

Games in final week before release – Mafia II for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are the only game in its final week before release. The X360 version adds 12,000 new pre-orders for a total of 70,000 and the PS3 version adds 8,000 pre-orders for a total of 57,000. Expect first week sales in the 150,000 to 175,000 range for the X360 version and in the 100,000 to 125,000 range for the PS3 version.

Halo Reach VS CoDMW2

Halo: Reach (X360) adds another 183,000 pre-orders for the week reaching a total of 1.25 million with 4 weeks until release. The gap between Halo: Reach (X360) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (X360) has grown for a third straight to 112,000. Next week will be interesting as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (X360) saw its biggest jump that week with 300,000 new pre-orders.

GT5 americas preorders

Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) remains steady adding another 6,000 pre-orders for a total of 150,000 pre-orders to date. With 11 weeks until release expect pre-orders to start picking up in the next three to four weeks.

Metroid: Other M Americas Preorders

Metroid: Other M (Wii) adds another 13,000 pre-orders for a total of 123,000 pre-orders. With 2 weeks until release and 1 week left of pre-orders expect total pre-orders to be in the 140,000 to 150,000 range.

Also in the top 10 is Call of Duty: Black Ops that reaches a combined 618,000 pre-orders for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions with 12 weeks until release. Medal of Honor pre-orders are down compared to last week with 8 week left until release. However it does add another 20,000 pre-orders for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version combined, for a total of 489,000. Fallout: New Vegas pre-orders are up on the week adding another 30,000 pre-orders for the X360, PS3, and PC versions combined, for a total of 390,000. Fable 3 (X360) jumps to the seventh spot with 10 weeks until release. It had 28,000 new pre-orders this week for a total of 156,000. Final Fantasy XIV Online (PC) with 6 weeks until release adds 9,000 pre-orders for a total of 142,000 on the PC version, also the PS3 hits 23,000 total pre-orders.

Notable mentions outside the top 10: Kinect Adventures! (X360) jumps 26,000 pre-orders up from 15,000 the previous week. A close eye will be kept on this game as it comes bundled with Kinect and is an indicator as to how well Kinect will sell. Sports Champions (PS3) which has a bundle with the PlayStation Move adds 2,000 pre-orders for a total of 23,000 pre-orders with 3 weeks left until release. A close eye will also be kept on this game for the next couple of weeks as it is also an indicator of how the PS Move may sell when it is released in a few weeks.
