| This will be a very straight-forward review compared to the styles of my reviews. My friend let me burrowed the game since he knew I'm a fan of the series, but he knows that I'm not a fan of the modern MOH games, but he decided to let me try it out since he was getting a bit tired of the game. So I tried it out and it was on the PS3 and he's still playing Frontline to finish the game so I didn't have the chance to play it.
Here's the review:
After, a lot of attempts of trying to mindlessly copy COD's gamestyle, you'd think that EA would actually try to come back to their roots. Hell, I remembered when they announced this game, they even said they were going back to their roots of the original MOH on the PSOne. But sometimes, things change...and that's just what exactly happened with the new MOH game. Let's quickly start with graphics and sound. They're all nice and well done and up to par. Not much I can complain, and the music is fine and it fits when the script editor want it to be played. The problem with this MOH game is that it STILL plays like a COD game. You got your regen life, it's cover-based, slow-paced shooter, you're mostly likely with a team of soldiers and you're fighting group of soldiers, etc. I understand EA has their massive love and suppport for troops and I'm glad they made a game to dedicate their hard work, but to be truthfully honest, Infinity Ward or Treyarch should've made this game. It's basically another COD game to me. It doesn't feel like a MOH game, it doesn't play like, and I don't hate the game, it's not bad, but in a MOH fan perpsective, I absolutely think this game is some sick joke. Even the multiplayer plays similar to COD=killstreaks, campy play style, weapons kill you fast, load-outs, customization, and this game is basically a MULTIPLAYER shooter just like COD. I beat the campaign on Normal in like 4 hours and that's VERY VERY sad for a series that's known for having great campaign gameplay with a decent length. Was it terrible? No, I can tell the developers took good care in their design, but calling this game as MOH game is just a punch in the stomach. If you like COD, you might like it, but I don't, so it's automatically bad for me because it has doesn't play like how MOH is meant to be played.
Let's look at Halo. How would you feel if Halo turns into a Doom-esque shooter. No regen life, 7 weapons, hellish-themed, bad ai, bad storyline, and so on. I'll hate it as a Halo fan, but I'm also a Doom fan so I'll probably like it, but it's a terrible game if I played the ealier Halo games and loved them because it has nothing to do with the series or even play like the game. That can be said the same to this game. I couldn't stand playing this game and I'm glad it was short and another thing that this game bothers me is it SOOOOOOOOO easy. Probably easier than Bioshock and I thought that was like the easiest first-person shooter I've ever played in my life. Sure, it got checkpoints, but man it didn't really bother me that much. This is a perfect example of catering to the masses (COD/Halo fans), but we're just specifically talking about COD fans because this game has more similarities to it. Tell you the truth, the MOH theme songs wasn't even in this game! WHAT THE FU** EA??? Why don't you have the theme song atleast for a reboot? This game is like the Soldier of Fortune: Payback in my eyes, but the MOH version of it...
MOH is still dead to me right now. I'll just constantly play the original, underground, Allied Assault + expansion packs, and Frontline untill my heart's content. I'm not trying to say you shouldn't go and buy it, I mean I'm sure you guys might like it since I'm assuming most people are COD/BFBC fans in this forum, but I'm not into those type of shooters. However, if you really enjoyed the previous games and loved that lone-wolf/one man army type of gameplay with the feelings of isolation and peril, you won't re-exerperience it again in this game.

| I was expecting more out of Medal of Honor. I was hoping for a CoD killer. Guess I was wrong. Ah well I will get BFBC2 instead. Better luck with the sequel EA! | |

No chance mate. Play Medal of Honor first and then give a proper opinion on the two games. I have finished both MW2 and MOH and my opinion is that MOH is a way more authentic and enjoyable experience than MW2

| Agh, must be a right kick in the teeth to love the original games and for it to just change. :/ But yeah, really nice review. Reviews like this without a review score are actually quite a good idea xD It actually motivates people to read the whole thing and come up with a better informed decision of whether they should really get the game or not. I, for one will not be getting Medal Of Honor, at least I have no plans to yet. Not for the reasons you dislike it (except for the fact that you can complete it in 4 hours lol) but because I don't like paying more than £30 on a game which is so similar to many games already out for cheaper. I'll probably re-buy Battlefield Bad Company 2 some time.... That game's much more fun than COD and it seems... more fun than Medal Of Honor. | |

He's not saying it isn't those things. He's just saying the campaign is short, the game is completely unlike the early Medal Of Honor games despite the company stressing that it would be, it's very much like call of duty and yeah.... He's not said it's a bad game overall, it's just not his cup of tea because he expected a game similar to the first few. Why am I even trying to convince you? You prefer Dragon Age over Oblivion, wtf!

| Ok I take back what I said. I just played the game today (we rented it off Gamefly), I think it's a very very good game. The controls are not as good to CoD, but hey they work (I mean like the Tactical layout)... but hey they can fix that with the sequel. I actually like this game a lot more than I like the original Medal of Honor's, and I also like its single-player more than I like Bad Company 1's. Overall... this game rocks. | |
