On and arntson, the USA is a Democratic Republic. That is probably where you got that. They are two different things. Democracy means the people vote and Republic means the people are represented by elected officials. That's the gist anyway.
Anyway, I'll add a poll just for fun since you mentioned democracy. I like that.
