Well, I posted this before, and some person spammed offensive material all over the page, so I gave up and went to go see a movie.

So here I am again; let's see if this time the thread can survive without being bombarded by pornography.

For those who didn't see the first post:

This was a message I sent to MLD over YouTube, and never got a response. Just want to see what other people think of my arguments.

Keep in mind that this was sent many months ago, and I have not edited a single part of it.

I would recommend watching the original video.

As well, please don't post anything if it's not actually referring to any of my arguments, and if you do post, expect an in-depth discussion/debate.

Yes it's long...but get over it. I put some thought into it because I thought he would actually reply.

Here goes nothing...

"Well, let's start with The Agent first.

RockStar has always released AAA games and are known primarily for their GTA franchise. GTA IV won countless GotY awards last year and has been critically acclaimed as one of the games video games thus far. It doesn't need a release date, all that is needed to be known is the fact that it is being developed by RockStar''s best team. On the topic of release dates, care to tell me when Halo: Reach is coming? You claim that Halo: Reach will be so amazing, and it will be a guaranteed AAA game, and yet you don't know w release date, nor have you seen any in game footage. Sort of makes you a hypocrite, doesn't it?

Next topic, Mod Nation Racers.

If it turns out anything like LittleBigPlanet, a game which has over 30 million custom levels submitted, then for players who do not wish to create their own level, it won't be a problem. Secondly, as demonstrated in the presentation, they made a fully finished track in under five or ten minutes - I can't remember which. The point is, no one will spend 12 hours+ on creating a level; a few hours tops, and that's for the really detailed tracks.

Now, The Last Guardian.

I agree that the game probably won't appeal to everybody, but I think you'll be surprised how broad its appeal will be. Any big gamer of the last generation has heard, and most likely played Shadow of the Colossus; arguably the best game of the entire last generation. No doubt, it will attract almost every one of those gamers, just as Halo 3 attracted all of the Halo 2 fans.

And about Sony's motion controller,

I don't think you've put much thought into it, because each controller (or lack thereof) has its ups and downs. As the engineers at the presentation said, it will essentially be used similarly to the Wii's controller, but implemented into more hardcore games. It is similar to the Wii's controller in some ways, yes, but it will be very interesting to see what developers can do with the huge boost in technical power. For Natal, I think it will be used simply for casual games and dashboard navigation, because it can't really be implemented into many hardcore games. How do you propose a player would navigate through an open world like Fallout with no joystick or buttons? How would they signal that they wish to enter V.A.T.S. or check a looted body? It simply can't be done without a controller, regardless of whether the technology is there or not. Sure, it could be done with a much more simple genre, like a basic racing game, but you must take into account, that Natal will be, as you say, a "niche" device. So while Natal seems more technically impressive, it will be used for select games, whereas Sony's motion controller will appeal to many more types of genres.

As for the exclusives...

Sure, we all knew that their big releases already existed, but that doesn't mean they didn't show anything new. For the first time, MAG was demonstrated during a live 256 player match. At last year's E3, they boldly announced they were going to have 256 player matches. Immediately, everyone went skeptical, and many Xbox360 owners were claiming that it simply can't be done and that the lag would make the game unbearable. They came back, and proved them all wrong, showing how lag free a 256 player match can be. Next, Uncharted 2 had a first-time ever showing of a large segment of the single player campaign. The jaw dropping graphics left the audience in a state of awe. Lastly, God of War III had over 20 minutes of playable content released on the show floor. No doubt, it became one of, if not the most popular place to be at E3. That alone was one of the biggest highlights of E3. (Oh, and God of War III was announced for March 2010 before E3, so no "fail" there.)

As for your whole "It's on the 360 and not on the PS3, and that's all that matters." Wrong. For people who own a PS3 and a decent PC, having Alan Wake/SC: Conviction on PC gives them two less reasons on why they should own a 360. That's what matters. The whole point of exclusivity is that you can only obtain that experience if you buy a 360. That's not the case with most of 360's biggest hits. There are only a select amount of AAA games that can be experienced only on 360, and THAT'S what matters. You NEED to buy a PS3 to play God of War III; you DON'T need an Xbox360 to play Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, Left 4 Dead (1 & 2), Gears of War, etc. See where I'm going with this?

Also, the main reason why Crackdown became popular was because it gave you access to the Halo 3 beta key.

And as for your Gran Turismo versus Forza, I'm quite confident that Gran Turismo will be able to outdo Forza 3. Gran Turismo is more widely known as THE driving simulator than Forza. They've just had that kind of history with releasing many AAA racing games...not just one.

And you find it funny that Forza 2 & 3 will come out when only Gran Turismo 5 has come out? I find it hilarious that a countless number of series managed to release at least three major installments before the game Too Human was released from the time it began development. Over 10 years they had been working on it. It was supposed to be the "RPG to end all RPGs"...and look how it turned out. Arguably the biggest disappointment of this generation. I find that hilarious. At least I'm confident that Gran Turismo won't flop...as their already released GT5: Prologue has had better reviews than Too Human.

Polyphony Digital essentially sold a demo for $40. And guess what? People still bought it! If that doesn't show what kind of league Gran Turismo is in, I don't know what will.

Not only that, but they also showed an amazing line-up for their handheld, along with unveiling the next installment for PSP. Alongside that, they showed their huge line-up releasing for the PS2. Did Microsoft show anything about a handheld? Nope. Do they have ANY support for the original Xbox? Nope, it's been discontinued.

I realize that your video is regarding PS3/Xbox360, but you have to take into account the fact that Sony also has to promote two other platforms, and cannot simply focus on one.

So I still don't see how Microsoft destroyed Sony in any way, shape, or form."

Every halo has been AAA (apart from ODST but that's an expansion)so we know what we will expect from reach where as with rockstar there a good developer but this is a new franchise so we dont know how good it will be but it will probably be alright

"...each controller (or lack thereof) has its ups and downs."

That is PS3 biased? Are you serious?

And I only said what I did because of your childish "You keep telling yourself that so you can sleep better at night." instead of actually replying to one of my points.

But if you think that statement above is biased, then you need to check up on the definition of "bias". It's a perfectly legitimate point about the PS3 motion controller being more practical than Natal, even if Natal's select number of games work very well with it.

I was pointing out that Microsoft didn't kick Sony's ass there, as MLD put it.

And this isn't a duplicate account...The thread I made before this one was under this account...I think that's where the confusion came from.

ok let me clear this up, first of all no one wants to do a full complete rebuttal to the original post for 2 reasons:

1. It's just too damn long and no one really wants to take the time out of playing fire fight or Forza 3 to do a full reply.

2. it's the same regurgitated sony fanboy babble that this site was created to be a safe haven from.

and to make one point it wasn't just our opinions or MLDs opinion that M$ beat sony at E3, it was the critics and the media who said it first.

I think Sony and Nintendo owned E3. Microsoft didn't have much of a lineup.

Honestly, with the amount of great PS3 exclusives and the motion controller and the amount of sales that the PS3 Slim is bringing Sony, I'd say that this is the year of the PS3.

Most websites stated, and i have to agree with it:

"Nintendo had the worst of the lot, most said it was unbearable to watch.

Sony had the best line up of exclusive titles, yet bad since they spent like half the time speaking about the PS2...

Microsoft was the most entertaining and coolest of them all, a lot of special things that made it the best E3 conference ever. "'

I agree with it, and i streamed them all...

IMO MS had the better exclusive lineup. The lineup MS showed appealed to me alot more than Sonys did.

Why do arguments have to be founded on facts? Facts are things people should already know, which would make the argument fairly redundant.

If you refuse to rebut against any point with an opinion, then there's a good chance you'll never rebut. I'm not talking about just on this forum, but put into a real life scenario. Debates are always about subjective points. They may be reinforced by factual evidence, but the thesis is never a fact. If it was, it wouldn't be a debate; it would be a lecture.

My post is generally favoring the PS3, of course, but when was the last time MLD argued for the PS3, or against the Xbox360?

I could say that All of MLD's videos are "regurgitated bullshit" that everyone hears over and over again. How many times has he said "you're dead last...what does your opinion matter?" just to avoid answering a perfectly valid point? MLD's video has far more bias than my post does.

Let me point some things out:

He criticizes Sony for not releasing any information on The Agent (even though the setting was announced aside from the presentation), and yet he goes on to praise Microsoft for announcing Halo: Reach. What gameplay was shown of Halo: Reach? What announcements were made about what they were going to change? Nothing.

His whole argument was that Bungie always produces Halo games with a AAA production value (ODST?). What about Rockstar's GTA IV team? They're the same people making The Agent, and tell me the last time a GTA flopped?

Since MLD loves Metacritic so much...let's look at this team's history; heck, why not compare it to Bungie's?

Rockstar North:

GTA III: 97
GTA: Vice City: 95
GTA: San Andreas: 95
GTA: Liberty City Stories: 88
GTA: Vice City Stories: 86
GTA IV: 98
GTA: China Town Wars: 93
GTA IV: Lost and Damned: 90

Average Metascore: 92.75 for 8 games.

Bungie:

Halo: Combat Evolved: 97
Halo 2: 95
Halo 3: 94
Halo 3: ODST: 84

Average Metascore: 92.5 for 4 games.*

*Note the pattern from beginning to end...R*N released their best title to date last year.

They both have good history, but I think the edge would have to be given to RockStar North. New IP or not, their games are very fun to play, and almost always have a AAA production value.

It really doesn't matter which team is better; they are both amazing. Which is why I don't know why MLD dismisses the fact the The Agent is being made by a team with one of the best track records in the business.
