at that price, Microsoft won't exactly be penetrating Nintendo's share of the casual market anytime soon

I doubt this is real anyway. Microsoft haven't officially announced anything and can change it at any time.

A disc tray does not allow it to be bumpy, unless you have a thing that pushes down on to the DVD. However it slows the disc down so the reading speed is affected dues not working on a DVD game.

This works perfectly on a CD-players. They could have a "pop-in" function on it, like most laptops have.
