Japanese gamers like to think that Japan is the center of the gaming world and they take pride in owning the industry for most generations of hardware. Nintendo, Sega, Sony, all Japanese. They don't give any Western game a chance, it's amazing how well the Xbox 360 has done, mostly due to Sony screwing up so bad and not delivering games for so long.

The west has become much more important to gaming than Japan ever was.

The only way the Xbox could ever win in Japan is if it secured Final Fantasy as an exclusive series and MS didn't even bother to buy it as a multiplat in Japan. It's going to sell way more in the rest of the world since Japan has such a small population so MS probably spent their money wisely, but they really should take Japan more seriously if for no other reason but that so many developers there want they games to be successful in their home country. Xbox exclusives, even Japanese ones, don't do well in Japan.

Japan is a mystery to me, they have their own taste in games.

QFT! He stole the word right out of my keystroke lol. I was thinking the same thing. That's why the PS3 is winning in Japan. They like those weird games that most Americans can't stand. Not to mention they support their own. Which is why a system like 360 doesn't stand much of a chance period. We Americans should do the same to them, and support our own.
