ALAN WAKE will not have an open world settings???

ive came across this article , is this true?

yeah whats the problem about not being open world? you cant walk around everywhere,alan has to look for his wife..is that the story or im mistaken?

Sam Lake at this point says this about Alan Wake:

"The path that the player is on is quite wide at times and all through the
game there is a lot for the player to explore, but it's not a
free-roaming sandbox"

and

""We'll open more of the game world as the game progresses. The area is
so large, that we want the players to become familiar with a smaller
subset of the world, before we introduce new locations and new areas."

Who every said it was going to be open world. Max Payne 1 and 2 aren't open world.

for some reason i always thought it was gonna be an open world experience, oh well no bigy.

ís reach gonna be an open world or are they gonna change that one aswell?

The only Halo game that comes close to open world is ODST and even the Rookie's night stuff wasn't full one open world like GTA. Bungie said Halo Reach will have much bigger battles and bigger environments, but they aren't changing the winning Halo formula.

I don't anyone wants Halo Reach to be like GTA.

im new to the xbox world so i dont realy know what to expect from HALO , hope i like it.

up until now ive been playing mostly PS3 but being a HUGE splinter cell fan i decided to buy an xbox aswell .

It was never an open world game. It was always billed as "semi-open" world.

Well in that case, you could get yourself a cheap used copy of Halo 3. If you like it you could do the same for Halo 3: ODST while you wait for Halo: Reach.

If you want to start at the beginning you can get the original Halo CE which works nearly flawlessly on Xbox 360 and Halo 2 which only has a few small single-player graphical glitches when played on Xbox 360.

Then there's Halo Wars if you like strategy games.

I prefer if it wasn't open world, sometime that can detract from the experience and Alan Wake will definitely be one hell of an experience.

It's not an open world game like GTA but it offers far more exploration than say Heavy Rain or Uncharted 2/Killzone 2.

if this game was an open world game i bet later on through the game it will get boring

i dont care it is still an exclusive though....
but still it seems awsome

Well, as of right now, Alan Wake looks better. But Reach is still in Alpha stage who knows how it's going to be when it's done, it's will possibly beat A:W and UC2
