No more Linux on PS3

Sony next firmware gonna make sure that the old models will not be able to install Linux on they're consoles. People were using that feature apparently to hack the PS3. Well not anymore..
Needless to say that this news already are creating a shitstorm among some PS3 owners.

Linux is an open source code to a operating system, Linux does not have operating systems like Microsoft has windows. Other companies like Solaris or Ubuntu make operating systems of the code that was made originally by a Harvard professor, the code was called "minix" and was excellent for use on servers due to the interchangeble drivers when the system is operating.

Linux is not an OS.

Kendo, have you even tried using any version of Linux? How can you say its pointless, when it is better then every other out there? Windows and Apple OS are stuggeling to get features that Linux versions have had for years. Linux primary use is for Server-useage and 97% of all servers in the world run on any version of it. 97%!!!!! So if Linux was pointless... You wouldnt be able to do anything that is base from it... for example internet...

Youtube servers are Linux based, just for starters.


The very core of the Linux deal is that its open source code, so everyone can make their own OS.

I do not even know how to get Linux. I dont think I would even use Linux. I usually do not talk about Linux. I would rather talk about Windows.

Thats because of that hacker. So now Sony punishes the legit consumer by taking away yet another feature of the PS3. Hillarious. I remember PS3 fanboys saying the hacker hadnt really made any progress. Apparently Sony disagrees.

Yes you can have Solaris (Linux) on the 360, but its alot harder to install it and connect to live.

As it says in the Terms for Live, that you cant modify the 360 in anyway. Therefore you cant utilise the 360 online with Linux install.

But..t..I thought PS3 Only does EVERYTHING........

Its an optional update. But they wont be able to access PSN anymore if they dont. I saw a guy on youtube install windows XP on his PS3. Can you still play games if you did that?

To be fair Chief I have no idea if Linux can be installed on the 360 or not but when I read his question of "can u install linux on 360? also linux was never in any ps3 slims just old ones". I didn't really see it as defending the competetion, more like if Linux can be installed on the 360 then thats another feature we have got over the competition now.

I suppose you have to deal with stealth trolls on a regular basis on this forum so I don't blame you for been vigilant.

What further proves that Sony are mentally challenged losers is the fact that no one has ever played pirated games on the PS3 even with Geohot's exploit explained.

1. Card readers.
2. USB (amount of).
3. PS2 B/C.
4. SACD
5. Other O/S.
