Can you give some examples? For example, I don't think reviewers consider the mods in most Valve games, as well as most Bethesda games. I understand that there are some ports that are just sloppy, like Splinter Cell: Conviction, but, like I said, reviewers don't take into account mods or unofficial patches for bugs in the game, etc.

Any particular mods that you would recommend? About Bethesda... I'm not sure whether it's a good or a bad thing that fans need to mod the game to stop the characters from looking like shit.

I myself am not a PC gamer, but you can look here if you're interested. As for Bethesda . . . yeah, the characters are pretty ugly, but there are a ton of other mods that people use to add new weapons, armor, and spells. I know someone who runs around Fallout 3 with Cloud Strife's sword.

But yeah, I do agree on the Bethesda bit, but that's like 1 developer.

Isn't it assumed that being able to alter and expand your game without the help of the developer is a fantastic feature? Not if no one uses it. It's only a valid argument if you actually use the feature and it improves your gaming experience.

| NightFang, our arguments aren't irrelevant just because we don't use the features, if that's what you're getting at. It would be one thing if we were arguing for something we didn't use and didn't want to use, but I myself envy the PC owners who can mod their games. | |

| You really have to be a PC player to understand or someone who isnt a 13 year old console fanboy. Did you know Modern warfare 1 had a Zombie game mode? It was an online mod that used Home made maps in it. I played it.... It was so fucking good.... | |

I think mods are coming to the consoles. Maybe, I don't know. There's Steamworks but I don't know if that will let you use mods. Unreal 2004 for the Ps3 had mod support, I think.

Unreal 2004 for the Ps3 had mod support, I think. Mods won't come to consoles any time soon, especially not the 360 (since Microsoft is very selective when it comes to licensing issues). Unreal Tournament 3 had mods on the PS3 version, but the mods were made by PC users (who viewed it as thankless work). Steamworks is just used to deliver patches to the games as far as I know.

I could see a possibility for mods maby 2 or 3 console generations from now. But the odds are still slim.

But you are arguing for something I don't use. Whether a game is superior on PC or console should be decided on a case-by-case basis. - Shin_Akuma wrote:

About Bethesda... I'm not sure whether it's a good or a bad thing that fans need to mod the game to stop the characters from looking like shit. actually a few really good mods for HL2 are getting their own games including killing floor and natural selection 2. Gary's mod is still used alot for fun. another thing to realize is that reviewers only review basic gameplay. Reviewers would never consider surfing or zombies in counterstrike into their review same with DotA and left4dead scavenger mode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqiulSLFncc^no reviews for this but it would be so much fun

Killing Floor was an UT2004 mod, Natural Selection was a HL1 mod The mod I've played the most is probably the original Counter-Strike which I played since beta 2.
