- A growing numbers of consumers are signing a petition demanding a full refund for those who bought the 'inferior' PS3 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops.
According to the disgruntled gamers, the PS3 "can equal and/or outperform the Xbox 360 on many levels", yet Black Ops on Sony's console features "sub-par graphics, buggy software and less features" than the 360 edition.
The petition references Digital Foundry's recent analysis of the game's visuals, in which it was claimed that Black Ops is "clearly superior-looking" on Xbox 360.
The complaint also alleges that Activision and developer Treyarch have failed to deliver promised features for the PS3 version of Black Ops, including online split-screen functionality, which is featured in the Xbox 360 edition.
The petition reads: "... Is it fair to charge PlayStation 3 owners the same price for an inferior product, when both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 had the same amount of development time?
"Is it fair to charge PlayStation 3 owners the same price for an inferior product, when the previous version (Modern Warfare 2) was equal on both systems but the updated version (BO) is not?
"Is it fair to charge PlayStation 3 owners the same price for an inferior product, when the previous version (Modern Warfare 2 on PS3) looked visually better than BO looks now on PS3?
"We are requesting a full refund for Call of Duty Black Ops!"
148 consumers have currently signed the petition.
CVGWell kinda, lol , 148 people. Although I didn't know the PS3 version was missing split-screen online play. That's pretty shitty on TreyArch's part.

Nah man, I've blitzed Black Op's split-screen online round at my mates house. Whoever claimed that the PS3 version was missing this feature is full of shit.

| Or devs can just develop games separately on each system and not port it. |

These guys need a life I don't see anything wrong with bitching about wanting a properly made game across all platforms. And especially when the company making the game has the work force and sufficient monetary support to make that happen. There really is NO EXCUSE for what happened to Black Ops. I'd say the more bitching the better, but this has to be backed by not buying their product, so a lot of the bitching goes to waste. Activision knows the people that will bitch will still get the next game anyway.

They should get over themselves and just buy the 360 version

They should get over themselves and just buy the 360 version Tell that to the European Market, Black Ops is the first COD game to sell more on the PS3 in it's opening week than the 360 version. COD is a 360 franchise only in North America it seems.

When they write that you can tell you're not dealing with a gamer but rather, a fanboy.

| Online petitions almost never work. Why would someone want one version of a game to bad worse than the other? If I was the devs, I would make the 360?PS3 versions equal. | |

Activision knows the people that will bitch will still get the next game anyway. Its activisions choice which console will have the better version. Its activisions game and if they dont like that their console has an inferior version, they should have just returned it. Funny thing is, actvision doesnt NEED AN EXCUSE for this. They can make whatever they want and dont need to say why.If these guys dont liek it, then they shouldnt buy the game. And it wouldnt matter because these guys(or pretty much ps3 cod players) are in the minority These guys also need to realize WHY the 360 version is better and not what sony tells them.Having a console with a strong cell processor or blu-ray does not mean its multiplats will be better than the 360's counterpart.

| They didn't intentionally make the 360 version better, they have time restraints and couldn't get the PS3 version up to par, that's it. | |

Yep. Instead of asking why their version is inferior, they should be asking themselves whether they'd rather wait longer for the game when the xbox version is already out, just so it can be on-par with it.

| They don't know shit about hardware or how software works.
COD games on consoles have to sacrifice things like HD resolution for a consistant 60 FPS.
It maybe Treyarchs fault for not optimizing the PS3 version but the PS3 is partly to blame for it's memory issues.

Oh okay so when a game like FFXIII looks like shit on the X360 compared to the PS3 it's the hardwares fault and not the developer's fault but when it's the other way around it's the developer's fault? Bullshit. It's not like the PS3 and the Xbox 360's are extremely similar. When designing middleware game engines it's not so black and white to make it work for both platforms. This is reality folks, console ports are NOTHING new. I do agree that Treyarch should have done a much better job with the port, but a petition will do NOTHING. Demanding a refund because of visual differences and having 40-50 average FPS instead of 60 FPS is childish and stupid.

The thing is with FF13, is that its just a piece of shit regardless of the platform. The game ran just fine on 360, if fanboys want to TEEHEE AND HAHA over some textures and CGI, then fuck them. =/ But the problem I have with ports like CODBlackOps is not the graphics, textures, and other shit like that (those normally take a hit during ports), the problem I have is the insane number of glitches and bugs that actually break the game. THOSE can easily be found and taken care of with proper testing of the product.

If neither are integrated into the development of the game, then its up to the devs to play their game whilst they develop it. But making betas and hiring testers cost MONEY, and companies like Activision (even though they HAVE the cash to do so) refuse to do such things because they're money grubbing pieces of shit that don't care about delivering a quality product to the consumers. When the testing is left to the devs alone, that can lead to laziness, and Black Ops and MW2 (and TONS of other games) really showcase that.
