| This game fucking sucks how can some of you like it so much? The draw distance looks fantastic but the actual textures and character models are horrible. The gameplay is tediously repetitive. The levels have lots of space to roam around but absolutely nothing to do and as you proceed behind you the level is blocked off which prevents back tracking. The "psychological thriller" part seems to revolve around making load noises, blurring effects, and lots of shadows. Not impressed. What's supposed to be so great about it?
Edit: Okay I've been playing some more and after I stopped taking it seriously it's getting pretty good. I'm at the part where you're at the Anderson farm part. This game has some great action. The part where you're on the Anderson's Brothers stage fighting off all the taken--fucking awesome. It also has a pretty good soundtrack.

If you want a REAL psychological thriller, get Amnesia: Dark Decent on Steam. That shit scares the hell outta me.

You're a powerless man, trapped in a place of unknown origin, battling to keep your sanity (part of the gameplay is to try to stay psychologically healthy), and mysterious creatures stalk you and many you can't fight. In most cases you have to hide and run, and that shit becomes a real thrill.

Huh. Too bad you didn't like it. I LOVED it. Also part of a game being a psychological thriller is that it doesn't really on "loud noises, blurring effects, and lots of shadows." It's dialogue that Alan gives during gameplay telling you what he's thinking and feeling about the things that are happening to him. It's the fact that Alan doesn't know what's real or not during the game. Ah, fuck it. I pretty sure you have to know what a "psychological thriller" is by watching a movie like The Game by David Fincher or reading a Stephen King novel to truly appreciate Alan Wake. Like I did You said it yourself, you don't really play these type of games so I don't really think you can appreciate it as much as I can.

Answer what Pickles? My post about you not knowing anything about Psychological thrillers. I've seen some Stephen King Movies and read some books. You didn't really ask a question though. As for games that was probably the first I've played.

:3 There was this one called Surrender, and this other one but I forgot the name of it. They weren't Stephen King books.

:3 There was this one called Surrender, and this other one but I forgot the name of it. They weren't Stephen King books. Read one from Stephen King. He's fucking amazing. Like Desperation, the antagonist in that book was TERRIFYING. Also why did you think a Psychological Thriller game relies on visuals and sound effects?
