Game Features • Relive the glory days of the classic arcade. “Game Room” replicates the old-school look, sound and feel of a retro video game arcade. At launch, “Game Room” will bring you a library of 30 original arcade and console classics such as “Centipede” and “Asteroids Deluxe” from Atari Inc. and other favorites from Activision Inc., Intellivision, Konami Corp. and more, all shown in their original cabinets. Create a brand-new social environment* your avatar can explore, trick out your “game room” by arranging your cabinets, and decorate each room with themes and animated icons from your favorite games. With weekly new title releases, your arcade will soon be retrofitted to perfection. • Prove you’re the arcade master. Think you have what it takes? Challenge friends to beat your high score by sending custom challenges and taunts across platforms, earn Achievements, unlock levels and climb your way to the top of universal leader boards. Compete in ranked mode, in which you play against other Xbox LIVE members on the world leader board, or challenge mode, in which you take turns playing a game.* “Game Room” also offers local Couch Play mode for up to two players — how will you duke it out for arcade supremacy? Enjoy a seamless experience across Xbox 360 and Windows-based PCs as you share games, track your progress and jump back into the game, no matter which of the two platforms you’re on. You can even invite friends into your custom arcade to check out your collection or visit their “game room” to demo games and scope out additions to your collection. • Buy “Game Room” titles once and play on both your Xbox 360 and Windows-based PC. Enjoy the freedom of buying games for “Game Room” once and playing on both Xbox 360 and a Windows-based PC for about the same price as a DVD rental. Those who prefer to play on a single platform can purchase individual games for either Xbox 360 or a Windows-based PC at a lower price point, or even pay to play a single game just like in the old arcades. See how long you can last on a single token!
How Do I Play? An Xbox 360 console or Windows-based PC and an Internet connection are all you need* to access “Game Room.” “Game Room” and associated games can be found on your Xbox 360 in the Xbox LIVE Games Marketplace or in the Games for Windows — LIVE client on your Windows-based PC.
How Much Does It Cost? It is free to download “Game Room,” which you can then populate with classic arcade games available for individual purchase. Buy games once and play on both an Xbox 360 system and a Windows-based PC for 400 Microsoft Points. Or, to purchase a game for only one platform, each individual Xbox 360 or Windows-based PC title is 240 Microsoft Points. You also have the option to pay to play a single game, just like dropping two quarters in the slot in the old arcades, for 40 Microsoft Points. Visit your friends’ “game rooms” and try their games free before you buy.
“Game Room” Specifications • One or two players • HDTV 1080p • In-game Dolby Digital • Voice chat • Avatar support • Online multiplayer (one or two players)* • Cross-platform leader boards • Cross-platform Achievements
* Xbox LIVE Gold Membership required for online multiplayer on Xbox 360. Xbox LIVE requires broadband access. http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/events/ces/Materials.aspx - Quote :

| Meh, I think this will be a fail. paying for games you can play for free on the internet isn't that big in my book. It's a nice idea, but that 40gp is going to get old real fast. I can really only see those people are really into nostalgia buying this. | |

| I'm and oldschooler and you can bet I'll be happy to have a little virtual arcade to play the classics. I've always wanted my own arcade and this is the next best thing. | |

| I have to say I'm really interested in the idea and really think microsoft have succeeded with this. 240mp is like the equivalent of £3 and for an arcade game you have permenantly, that's a good deal. What I like most is how you can play your friends games and they can play yours. That's just awesome, plus to pay 40mp to play an arcade game isn't such a bad deal considering in real arcades u pay about that much anyway. Microsoft have 2 thumbs up from me. Which idiot said 'home sweet home'?? The game room is where my heart is. | |

| Games need to be a lot cheaper. $2 for a game playable on 360 & PC sounds more reasonable. | |

| A single play should be 10-20 MS Points, and arcade games should all be 400 MS Points or less. | |

True, but some people don't like re-paying for things they already purchased. They should allow you to download the classic versions for free if you have the remixed, remastered, etc version already.

How many of use have original arcade machines in your houses? I'm looking forward to making a little personal arcade even if it is virtual. I might get tired of it eventualy, but at the tiny price for these classics, which I loved growing up and would love playing again, it's worth trying out.

Haha I do have one actually I've got MAME on it so I can pretty much play any arcade game I want.

Haha I do have one actually I've got MAME on it so I can pretty much play any arcade game I want. Actually I do to, to stand ups and a cocktail table. But that's not the point, you said "re-paying". As an owner of three MAME arcade cabs I didn't pay for those games. I downloaded them. If you payed for those games then you got taken my friend. MS is providing a way for us to legally buy those arcade classics. You could even put an Xbox 360 in your MAME cab and have a totally legit arcade machine. I wouldn't recommend it becuase MAME is better and free, we MAME owners are a tiny minority. Seems like you're just being contrarian. Name one bad thing about Game Room. And don't say you have to pay for games becuase paying for products and servises is what you are supposed to do. And don't say they are old and you can download them for free. Old doesn't change the fact they are classics and downloading ROMs is illegal. Even though I still do it.

| I already stated what was wrong with it and why I don't like it. If you already have the remixed/remastered Xbox Live Arcade version, then you shouldn't have to re-buy the original version.
I'm all for buying the classic versions of games that aren't on the Xbox Live Arcade.
I also find it weird that they would allow you to download it to your computer aswell for an extra fee. Do they not know that most of these games are in flash form on certain game websites?
I'm not saying the Game Room is bad, I'm just saying you shouldn't have to re-buy games you already paid MS for.
Kinda like how I bought Double Dragon when it came out but when the company went out of buisness MS didn't bother to say that they were completely removing the game from the Arcade.

I find it hilarious that you'll look past all of Sony's actual raping of it's fans with overpriced everything and forced repurchase of PS1 and PS2 games yet you have a problem with paying a few bucks for a classic if you already own some remastered remix. They aren't the same game so it's hardly a repurchase. Am I going to buy two versions of the same game. No and nobody is making me. Well maybe if it's one of my all time favorites. Game Room isn't for everybody and lucky for you MS isn't making you buy anything you already own. As for flash games, they are either remakes, usually sucky ones, or emulated. That means they either suck or are illegal. Why do you have such a problem with paying for something instead of stealing it? Or is it that you have something against everything Microsoft does?

Tell me how a remastered and the original are not the same game? I don't have a problem with you not liking something, what I don't like is you arguing against something relentlessly. You don't have to like anything that Microsoft does, but if all you're going to do is argue with those who do then why are you here? You've already said you don't like Game Room, we get it. Even though you're points are baseless and only apply to you. As for remakes, tell me one how I Am Legend, Omega Man, and The Last Man on Earth are the SAME movie. They were all made in different decades and each is a different take on the original book. It's the same with games. A remake, remix, or whatever you want to call it isn't the original. If it was the original than we wouldn't be calling it a remake. You still haven't explained why it's ok for Sony to remove free backwards compatibility so they can charge for PS2 games on PSN when the software to play the game on the PS3 is the same as that which would let you play the original disk, but you rail against Microsoft selling extremely cheap classics in a virtual and customizable arcade.
