| "Från oss alla till er alla, en riktigt god jul" - Arne Weise "From us all, too you all, a very merry christmas". Its officially Christmas, the time of happiness and... the birth of Jesus?...? To be more accurate its the time of the year everyone gives away gifts, aswell as receives gifts... or coal, if you've been naughty, like most PS3 fans... In Sweden and most of Europe the presents are opened on Christmas eve, with some exceptions... Just a couple of hours left until the openings is happening, most Americans are still waiting until Christmas day... poor basterds I just want to wish everyone here a very merry Christmas Just lets hope it will be a good year Other things could also be brought up, like things you got that you really liked, or just wishing everyone here a merry christmas.. in no particular language. So with that, i say: God Jul!

| Its a wonderful Christmas eve today in Sweden. Its -6* C outside and about 50cm of snow Its the whitest Christmas since 1994. I really do wonder why Americans open gifts on Christmas day? The three wise men gave their gifts on the night of Christmas eve. And since most Americans still believe in god, they should really open the presents on Christmas eve. I got some nice things today, mostly things for my own place... And socks and boxers of course | |

| Christmas in Sweden used to be different, since our "heathen" roots. We were one of the last to become Christian in Europe, since our Viking heritage was so immense. We didnt adopt it as fast as the weak minded danish people Until the early 1920 there was no Santa in Sweden, but the "Jul-bocken" or "Yule Goat" that was delivering gifts on Christmas eve, something that is a that is left from the Norse mythology. The Yule Goat was the sacrifice to the Fen-rise Wolf, to make the Winter calmer in Scandinavia. This happen on the night of 23 to 24. Something the Church in Europe was furious over. The Norse Yule-celebration is over 2500 years old, and the Church copied the date to make Jesus be born during the biggest celebration in most part of Europe. To make it an Christian symbolic holiday. The fact that Jesus was about 4 years old when he was born... Santa is also a Scandinavian tradition, but not as we know him today. The Gnomes are representatives in a big part of Norse folklore. But the Coca-Cola company tried to conquer the Swedish Soda market during Christmas*. They re-invented Santa and gave him red clothes, instead of the grayish that he should wear. *The Swedes drink something called: Julmust, its almost like a cola but with malt, so it tastes and foams morel like a beer. The sales of Julmust during the Winter is huge, it bumps the sales almost to 2nd place in total consumptions. This is weird since there are only ~9M Swedes. Coca-cola have dropped their attempts to make Coke the drink for the Swedes.. So they started making their own Julmust So to sum it up: Christmas is thanks to the old tradition to the Norse mythology The Yule-Goat delivering presents is almost 400 years older then Santa giving gifts. Swedes drink a lot of alcohol and Julmust during the Christmas The "Real" Christmas or "Juletid/Yuletime" occurs the night to 24th, not as the Christians claim the 25th. ~85% of the people that celebrate Christmas (protestants), celebrate it on the 24th, the rest is most English talking nations. Most Catholics and Orthodox people do it on the 25th.

I consider myself Christian to a certain degree... Well, im baptised... I had my confirmation. But if i believe in god... No I think science is correct, but who created Big Bang? Does Fate exist?.... There's bound to be a higher power of some sort.. God isnt proved or un-proved. | |
