In my opinion HD-DVD deserved to, but bluray is alright. But HD-DVD should have won.

HD-DVD should have won. The discs were cheaper, loaded much faster, and the players were cheaper too. Blu-Ray barely had much of a storage advantage and it was completely shit in all the rest of the categories.

Blu-ray holds more space. 25 GB, and 50 GB dual-layered.

HD-DVD on the other hand only held 15 GB, and 30 GB dual-layered.

Blu-ray also had higher quality encoding.

But it is quite slow. I think Bluray is a good product, but its slowness kills it sometimes. Its good for games, but for movies I can rarely tell the difference.

blu ray is just plainly far too slow that it makes all that extra space so redundant to the point when its almost pointless.

Meh...both good for their own reasons. I guess Blu-Ray but DVD if it is the case that Blu-Ray is slow. Plus it's harder to develop for at the moment. :/

Blu Ray is slower depending on the player you have but the extra space gave movie companies the ability to compress less stuff. HD DVD was a finished project at the time they lost and Blu Ray is still evolving now. I guess you would say I was one of the first adopters of Blu Ray so I think they should of won. One bad thing about Blu Ray is the name most people didnt know what it was, but when consumers saw HD DVD they knew what it was.

Watch Up on a 1080p tv. The difference is huge and it looks incredible.
