I just downloaded the demo for Split Second today. I played it, and I will give my impressions with it. The stuff that I'm gonna talking about is only present in the demo.
Split Second is a racing game by Black Rock Studios (Who developed Pure) and published by Disney Interactive Studios.
The graphics looks great and very colorful. The detail on the cars are great and the explosions (Yep, explosions) are mind-blowing to see.
The sound is good. The sound of the cars, sounds like real cars (I think, I don't remember) and the explosions are just like explosions.
I like the gameplay. It is like an arcade racing game. I like 'em. What makes it stand out from all the other racing games are the Powerplays. The Powerplays are the explosions that can be triggered by every driver on the race track. There are 2 levels of powerplays. There are 3 bars of it. Level 1 are stuff exploding and shortcuts. The exploding stuff are not like Level 2 but they could still crash some cars. Examples a a gas station and an out of nowhere explosion. Shortcuts are just shortcuts. 1 example is something heavy rising up. If your too late, you are gonna get crushed. These cost one bar.
Level 2 are creating new routes and bigger explosions or disasters. You can make new routes by...explosions. Too complicated to explain it.
In order to fill up the meter, you need to perform stunts such as jumps and precision driving such as passing very close to objects and drifting.
