Sony looses 700 million

according to this article sony has lost 700 million dollars on the ps3 slim so even though it is cheap it is costing sony tons of money. Even though this is good for the consumers it will eventually lead to Sony not being able to support their console if they cant get the production cost of the slim to less than or equal to 299$

Sony really screwed up on that. Even with 360 warranty repairs MS has made a ton of money.

I agree. Sony spends insane amounts of time and resources on their big exclusives only to have the majority of the PS3 userbase snub their noses and buy movies or mainstream 3rd party multiplatform games like NFS Shift and Batman. And Sony is also paying a dear price for their "bluray victory." Sony was arrogant after dominating for two generations and ushered in their new HD format on the backs of their loyal fans. PS3 was launched as a Trojan horse for bluray and it has blown up in their face.

I think the problem goes beyond the PS3. I walked into Best Buy the other day and their LCD TVs costs almost twice as much as the other brands. Same with their dvd players and everything else. Especially during a recession, people just are not going to buy that kind of high end stuff.

I agree. Thats another factor to consider in Sonys losses as well. And brands like Samsung are better quality for a lower price. Samsung has been putting the hurt on Sony for quite some time in HDTV sales.
