Nope they guesstimate their numbers. One forum I know of have banned them as a source.

The guy making his case for Europe being relevant to the article is partially correct. He's just going about it the wrong way.

If Sony did in fact sell 210,000 more units across Europe than Microsoft (not sure if this is true or not), then the United Kingdom is a BIG reason for that. The UK is the largest console market in the entire continent -- so if Sony sold that many more consoles during the month of November over the 360, it would have had to sell on par with the 360 in the United Kingdom or more than the 360 in that country to do so.

I don't know how legit the numbers are though or if Sony did outsell the 360 by 210,000 in the region -- so it's hard to validate the cause.
