PS3's Move Sold 'Well Below Expectations,' says Pachter

After all, if the product is selling so well, why not give us the sales information? In Europe, Sony revealed that Move sold around 1.5 million units.

In North America, however, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter believes that Move really did not fare as well as Sony would have liked. Despite the suspected slow start, Pachter still thinks that Move, and Microsoft's Kinect, will have a notable impact on industry sales this holiday season. "Even though we believe Move sold well below expectations in its first month, we expect it, along with the Kinect (launching November 4), to drive hardware sales at holiday," he said.

The launch of PlayStation Move did not seem to noticeably lift the fortunes of Sony's PS3 either; Pachter revealed that the PS3 sold 312,000 units in September, which represents a 37% decline year-over-year.

I remember all the sony fans were saying "PS3 will outsell 360 in the next year" but it doesnt seem like thats gonna happen.And this is the first article of patcher that I agree with

didnt move sell like 314,000 units? thats pretty good if u ask me considering how the thing looks but i think both move and kinect are shit so anyways meh

Europe is Sony Land, America is Microsoft Land, no surprise here (at least for me )

If someone buys 2 move controllers to play the two handed games, that counts as 2 units sold.
That sort of dilutes the numbers in Sony favour in my opinion.

There's something really fucked up is going on. This 1.5 mil are shipped numbers, but what are the odds of the sales being that low compared to shipments? And VGchartz couldn't be that far off either. Maybe their both bullshitting? (No red line? That's a word? LOL)

the 470000 in 4 weeks isnt vgchartz estimates, its official word I believe (if im wrong them so be it)

so the 1.5 million europe must be a shipped number.

that does mean a shit laod of move is rotting on shelves...........but based on what ive seen and heard, thats a very believable scenerio.

Perhaps Sony shipped that many expecting them to sell out, only to find only a fraction of the gamers were into it.
