their initial developments from the start of the series to when the game finally comes out are far too extremely long. i don't know about resistance and ratchet and clank but the development time to get the engines optimized for the cell and to look as good as they do (uncharted, killzone, GT) takes far too long.

if it didn't take so long then why do developers still complain to this day? its only fast if you have sony holding your hand the whole way.

the only reason the last generation xbox did as well as it did was because of it's online service, many people bought xbox's just for halo 2's online (which has become the standard for almost all console games). M$ took almost all the best things from last generation.
