| Why on earth this came to my mind I do not know, this came to mind: Play, create, share!I think it's funny because 80% of the PS3 consumer base can't do any of that right now. MS have outages too but they are announced and improve elements of the online infrastructure and also allow new features for new games releasing shortly. What was this!? Sony says "we are aware of the issue" how could you f***ing not be di*kheads, everyone's ringing you bastards complaining about the screw up. - Master_Chief wrote:

I'm hoping something can be done by use of firmware still, low level stuff.

| Features like the browser still work. A link wouldn't hurt, plus an update can be applied via USB like on the 360.
Something in the back of my mind makes me think Sony did this intentionally (conspiracy theory maybe LOL) but it's strange that shortly after George Hotz exposes a method to manipulate the PS3 (only briefly) via the use of the "Other O/S" something only available to phat PS3's, this happens... Are they combating that?

Are they combating that? I Actually wondered about that myself. As for the FW my PS3 still connects to the FW servers because when I go to update via internet it recognises that I have the latest FW. So we can still get a FW update through the usual method. Bear in mind when a new FW update is available your PS3 wont allow you to log into PSN until you download and install it anyway. Thats because you dont get your FW updates from PSN you get them from your internet connection to the FW servers.

Do you have a Slim? The Slims seem to not be having the problem according to reports. I have the fat 80gig with 2 USB ports. I checked again this morning and everything is still working. I guess I just got lucky.

UPDATE - Sony has updated, saying "We're narrowing down the issue and continue to work to restore service to all. Updates as soon as we have them."
UPDATE 2 - A mass story-telling session on internet gaming forum NeoGAF points towards the issue potentially being related to a calendar bug in older PlayStation 3 consoles, not the PlayStation Network as was first suspected. Bear in mind this is mob science, however, and is by no means official confirmation on the cause of the problem.
UPDATE 3 - Citing unnamed "developers and studios", British site Develop say that the issue is affecting titles currently in production for the PlayStation 3, with debug consoles - used by developers to actually make games - thrown "into a rebooting cycle, due to an endlessly-looping error message".
UPDATE 4 - PS3's still aren't working, and there has been no official update from Sony in over 9 hours. Their last Twitter update says that they believe the issue does not appear to be impacting PS3 Slim consoles. Even developers are hit by the PS3 failure. - lightlamp2 wrote:

| Yeah Sony knew about this.
General MLD should make a video pwning every PS3 cock hugger exposing that Sony not only knew this was going to happen and that they never tried to fix it before, it was more a 'wait and see'.
I hope the pricks lose big in March and April for it.
They even screwed developers over, I hope they get the shaft there too the bastards!
Never let another f**king zealot tell you Sony cares about them, Sony laughs at them.

| Sorry guys I got upset. Believe it or not I purchased the PS3 based on Sony's promises back in 2005-2006. Now when it picks up some steam with HR and GOW 3 Sony ruins it like they ruin everything. ON A LIGHTER NOTE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoENVnD3J8wHitlers pissed too! | |

| I was just about to play Heavy Rain and this BS happens. Something to do with the internal clocks in the older fat models. The only games I can play are the ones without trophys and thats MGS 4. | |

| This happened before with the Zunes. They say the times on the PS3's are incorrect because of something they did updating the PSN store/site. The Zune problem fixed itself, so I'm hoping the PS3's will do the same. Anyway, I doubt it will be down longer than XBL's record.
And for some reason, I can still play Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm.
