Halo Reach graphics PWN Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain: Face Rendering

Just to clarify gamerdude...the majority of your of your posts are defending the PS3...and while that aint a problem in its self...dont go putting in snide remarks about "our" console...Then it will be all good!

Come on guys Heavy Rain is going to be excellent! I mean David Cage is behind it! I cant fucking wait for it!

No its a different form of genre...Im kinda bored of the cliched games out now....Its going to be like Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy...A classic game.

It's nothing more than an over hyped choose you own adventure. The most interactive the game gets is walking around sets and talking to computer controlled characters. The most action the game has to offer is in the form of Quick Time Events. You know "Press B to dodge fork lift" that kind of thing.

If the game has such a great story and characters it should have been a MOVIE. I want to play games not watch them.

Oh and even with ZERO AI and not real interaction the game still is only comparable to Halo Reach's graphics and it's been in development for ages while Bungie will have Reach out after a total of 3 years.

I aint gona argue with ya......its just I was and still am a huge fan of Fahrenheit....and Heavy Rain is like a spirtual successor...so I cant pass it up!

It was different..it engaged me..great story...great soundtrack...I just loved the game full stop....And no..it had nothing to do with the sex scenes (thats what redtube is for..desperate times) .....It was intriging...Its either you love it or hate it..simple as that.

I disagree. The people look like plastic dolls with dead eyes. But I do agree it looks like the most boring "game" ever. If I wanted to watch a gripping psychological thriller I'd put in my "Memento" dvd.

Carter's face proves the Xbox 360 can out do anything on the PS3 on Bungie's budget in less then 2 years of dev time. Compare that to Sony throwing as much cash as they can at Uncharted 2 and working directly with Naughty Dog to squeeze every last drop of power out of the machine. Naughty Dog has stated that they used nearly 100% of the PS3's power, Bungie is proof that the sky is still the limit for the Xbox 360.

I disagree about the graphics as the characters look like dept. store mannequins. But I do agree that it looks like the most boring game ever. It will flop in sales too since it caters to a niche crowd.

Halo reach and uncharted 2 graphics comparison is not such a good idea because it is evident that uncharted 2 and crysis have the ebst graphics at the moment but halo reach vs heavy rain is debatable. Heavy Rain vs Halo Reach....i'd say they look slightly the same IMO but hair in Heavy Rain is a bit Squareish

They look pretty much equal, with a slight edge in favor to the Ps3 games specially uncharted 2, Reach seems to have the same low res textures as Halo 3 in some areas

Uncharted 2 is full of low quality textures the developers never wanted you to notice. But this topic is about facial rendering and it's obvious that Carter's face is much more detailed than anyone's in Uncharted 2.

It used to be that developers would strive for the best water FX. I remember long debates about what game had the best water rendering.

Faces are the new water.

The human face is very difficult to render well. Halo Reach has the best facial rendering techniques I've ever seen. Halo 3's only graphical shortcoming was in character faces. It looks like Bungie heard the criticism and has just upped the ante. With Carter's face looking so good, I expect the rest of the game to be just as proportianly outstanding as the rest of the series.

That's the point of comparing faces.

This is bungie's last halo game, so of course they are going to put mounds of effort into it or at least I would think that.

First off, your using a 3/4 year old screenshot of heavy rain plus an article came out a few months ago detailing how they have seriously ramped up the graphics +lighting with a sophisticated bleaching technique that works really well.

Take a look at that updated screenshot and now tell me that halo reach has better lighting or facial features/animations - you can't. Look at how the lighting shadows off the fbi agents eyebrows and such. This makes halo reach's facial animation look complete shit. Notice the pours on his cheeks, the complex lighting, the hair simulation, the eyes, etc.

See the individual hairs and such of his beard. He looks extremely life like and the expression is amazing!

P.S its not such a good idea to face bungie's efforts who arn't particularly known for their graphics to a developer that wants to convey emotion through the expressions on the characters faces - in heavy rain emotion and the faces are everything.

Anyone who says Halo Reach facial animations are better than the *updated* heavy rain screenshots is talking complete bullshit!
